Few things are worse than a broken car air conditioner on a hot summer day. Is that a hot stove? Nope, just your steering wheel. That puddle in the driver’s seat? Sweat. Ugh. You wipe your brow and wonder, "Who can fix the A/C in my Ford EXP?" Firestone Complete Auto Care — that’s who! We know our way around Ford vehicles, and our qualified technicians can diagnose and service the A/C system in your 1985 Ford. Bring your Ford EXP to your local Firestone Complete Auto Care
In this A/C performance inspection, we’ll check out the current condition of your 1985 Ford EXP A/C system to determine whether repair work is needed. This check includes a visual inspection, performance test, and pressure and leak test. If we suspect a leak, we’ll send a U/V dye through your A/C system or use a “sniffer” to find the leak. A "sniffer" is a machine that's run along parts of your Ford EXP A/C system that can detect refrigerant fumes escaping from the system. If there's a leak, we'll find it and fix it.
While your 1985 Ford EXP’s air conditioner is being serviced, we’ll also do an A/C evacuation and recharge. To do this, one of our technicians will remove the refrigerant in your A/C system (if there is even any left to remove). Then, they’ll perform an evacuation (also known as a discharge) on the entire system per Ford guidelines. The A/C system is recharged with new refrigerant and after one final test to be sure the system is cooling properly, you’re all set. We want you to be comfortable in your car, so we train our technicians to perform 1985 Ford EXP A/C recharges.
Warm air isn't the only Ford EXP A/C problem you may encounter. Other common A/C problems include weak airflow, which could be caused by mold or mildew buildup, a loose hose, an old ventilation fan, or a compromised seal. If you notice that your A/C system’s air is cold at first, then quickly goes warm, this may be due to a clogged expansion valve, faulty compressor clutch, blown fuse, or leak. Are you breathing in some “interesting” new odors in your 1985 Ford EXP? You could have a moldy evaporator case, or you may simply need a new cabin air filter installed. Our technicians will work to solve your A/C problems to the best of their ability. So, chill out. We're here to help you get the blast back in your EXP’s A/C!
