When you get in the car on a hot summer day, the last thing you want is a broken air conditioner. Your steering wheel feels like it's burning your hands. We’ve got experience with Honda vehicles, and our technicians are qualified to diagnose and repair 1985 Honda Prelude A/C systems. Bring your Honda Prelude to your local Firestone Complete Auto Care
During this initial A/C performance check, we’ll look at the state of your 1985 Honda Prelude’s A/C system to see if repair work is required. This check will include an examination of system pressure, a visual inspection, and a leak test. If any signs point to a possible leak, we’ll send a special U/V dye through the system, or use something called a “sniffer.” What’s a “sniffer,” you ask? It’s a specially designed machine that’s used on parts of your Honda Prelude A/C system to identify points where refrigerant fumes could be escaping the system. If there's a leak, we'll find it and fix it.
When we perform an A/C repair on your 1985 Honda Prelude, we’ll also do an A/C evacuation and recharge. To do this, one of our technicians will remove the refrigerant in your A/C system (if there is even any left to remove). Then, they’ll perform an evacuation (also known as a discharge) on the entire system per Honda guidelines. To finish, we’ll add new refrigerant to recharge the A/C system, and once we’ve done a final test on the system ourselves, you’re good to go. We want you to be comfortable in your car, so we train our technicians to perform 1985 Honda Prelude A/C recharges.
You may think warm air is the only potential Honda Prelude A/C problem you’ll have, but you may notice other issues, too. Another common A/C problem is weak airflow, which could indicate an old ventilation fan, a seal or hose that needs replacing, or mold buildup in your A/C system. If you notice that your A/C system’s air is cold at first, then quickly goes warm, this may be due to a clogged expansion valve, faulty compressor clutch, blown fuse, or leak. What about those (somewhat unpleasant!) smells coming through the A/C vents in your 1985 Honda Prelude? This can mean you have mold in your evaporator case, or it may indicate that it’s time to change your cabin air filter. Our technicians will work to solve your A/C problems to the best of their ability. So, chill out. We're here to help you get the blast back in your Prelude’s A/C!
