Few things are worse than a broken car air conditioner on a hot summer day. Your steering wheel feels like it's burning your hands. That puddle in the driver’s seat? Sweat. Ugh. You take a deep breath and ask yourself, “Who can fix my Mercedes-Benz 300TE A/C?” Firestone Complete Auto Care can! In this A/C performance inspection, we’ll check out the current condition of your 1990 Mercedes-Benz 300TE A/C system to determine whether repair work is needed. This check will include an examination of system pressure, a visual inspection, and a leak test. If we suspect a leak, we’ll send a U/V dye through your A/C system or use a “sniffer” to find the leak. What’s a “sniffer,” you ask? It’s a specially designed machine that’s used on parts of your Mercedes-Benz 300TE A/C system to detect refrigerant fumes escaping from the system. If your system has a leak, we can get it fixed.
When we perform an A/C repair on your 1990 Mercedes-Benz 300TE, we’ll also do an A/C evacuation and recharge. To do this, one of our technicians will remove the refrigerant in your A/C system (if there is even any left to remove). Then, they’ll perform an evacuation (also known as a discharge) on the entire system per Mercedes-Benz guidelines. To finish, we’ll add new refrigerant to recharge the A/C system, and after one final test to be sure the system is cooling properly, you’re good to go. We want you to be comfortable in your car, so we train our technicians to perform 1990 Mercedes-Benz 300TE A/C recharges.
Hot air is a common Mercedes-Benz 300TE A/C problem, but it’s not the only issue you might encounter. Other common A/C problems include weak airflow, which could mean you have a compromised seal, mildew or mold buildup, a loose or damaged hose, or a ventilation fan that needs to be replaced. If you notice that your A/C system’s air is cold at first, then quickly goes warm, this may suggest a leak, a blown fuse, or a damaged compressor clutch. Are you breathing in some “interesting” new odors in your 1990 Mercedes-Benz 300TE? That could be the result of a dirty cabin air filter (an easy fix!) or a moldy evaporator case. Our trained technicians will do what they can to solve your A/C problems. We’re here to help you get back on the road in your 300TE — without all the sweat puddles!
