In this A/C performance inspection, we’ll check out the current condition of your 1994 Mercury Sable A/C system to determine whether repair work is needed. This check will include an examination of system pressure, a visual inspection, and a leak test. If any signs point to a possible leak, we’ll send a special U/V dye through the system, or use something called a “sniffer.” A “sniffer” isn’t a technician with a good nose! It’s a machine that’s used on different parts of your Mercury Sable A/C system to identify points where refrigerant fumes could be escaping the system. If your A/C system has a leak, we’ll find and repair it.
While your 1994 Mercury Sable’s air conditioner is being serviced, we’ll also do an A/C evacuation and recharge. To do this, one of our technicians will remove the refrigerant in your A/C system (if there is even any left to remove). Then, they’ll perform an evacuation (also known as a discharge) on the entire system per Mercury guidelines. The A/C system is recharged with new refrigerant and after one final test to be sure the system is cooling properly, you’re all set. Our technicians are trained to efficiently perform 1994 Mercury Sable A/C recharges.
Hot air is a common Mercury Sable A/C problem, but it’s not the only issue you might encounter. Typical A/C problems also include weak airflow, which could be caused by mold or mildew buildup, a loose hose, an old ventilation fan, or a compromised seal. If you notice that your A/C system’s air is cold at first, then quickly goes warm, this can mean there’s a malfunctioning compressor clutch, a leak, or a blown fuse. And smelly A/C in a 1994 Mercury Sable? You could have a moldy evaporator case, or you may simply need a new cabin air filter installed. Our trained technicians will do what they can to solve your A/C problems. Don’t sweat it — we’re here to help you chill out again in your Sable.
