Mitsubishi Repair, Service & Tire Information

Mitsubishi Motors can trace its history back to 1870, when Yataro Iwasaki founded the original Mitsubishi shipping company with three ships. In the subsequent years, Mitsubishi companies expanded to industries like mining, insurance, and, in 1917, automobiles. The Mitsubishi Model-A was the new automotive company’s maiden vehicle, and, according to Mitsubishi’s website, made history as Japan’s first mass-produced car.

The automaker prides itself on being at the forefront of innovation; in 1970, Mitsubishi began researching and developing electric vehicle technology. (In 1982, the Mitsubishi automotive brand was introduced to the United States for the first time with the release of three cars: the Cordia and Starion coupes, and the Tredia sedan.) In 1990, Mitsubishi invented the world’s first electronically-controlled Traction Control system, which is now a legally required safety feature for American cars.

When you hear the name Mitsubishi, its three-diamond logo might be the first image that pops into your head. Here’s a fun fact for you: the name Mitsubishi comes from two words, mitsu and hishi. Mitsu means three, and hishi means water chestnut, though it’s often used to describe any diamond shape. So, Mitsubishi literally means “three diamonds”!

Though a smaller brand compared to automotive powerhouses like Ford or Toyota, Mitsubishi has experienced successful growth in recent years. Mitsubishi sold its five-millionth vehicle in 2015, and there are currently approximately 355 Mitsubishi partners nationwide. Today, the Mitsubishi lineup includes a sedan, called the Mirage, and two types of crossovers, the Eclipse and their best-selling Outlander. In general, Mitsubishis are known as being reasonably priced and enjoyable to drive.

Mitsubishi’s motto is, “Drive your ambition,” and, as their website explains, the automaker hopes drivers will have an ambition to explore. Of course, in order to explore you’ve got to keep your Mitsubishi adventure-ready – and you can do that by staying on top of preventative maintenance, service, and Mitsubishi auto repair.
