Few things are worse than a broken car air conditioner on a hot summer day. Is that a hot stove? Nope, just your steering wheel. Sweat soaks the driver's seat. During this initial A/C performance check, we’ll look at the state of your 2011 BMW 1 Series M’s A/C system to evaluate what repairs are necessary (if any). This check includes a visual inspection, performance test, and pressure and leak test. If any signs point to a possible leak, we’ll send a special U/V dye through the system, or use something called a “sniffer.” What’s a “sniffer,” you ask? It’s a specially designed machine that’s used on parts of your BMW 1 Series M A/C system to detect any refrigerant fumes that might be leaking out from the system. If there's a leak, we'll find it and fix it.
While your 2011 BMW 1 Series M’s air conditioner is being serviced, we’ll also do an A/C evacuation and recharge. To do this, one of our technicians will remove the refrigerant in your A/C system (if there is even any left to remove). Then, they’ll perform an evacuation (also known as a discharge) on the entire system per BMW guidelines. Finally, we’ll recharge the A/C system with new refrigerant and after one final test to be sure the system is cooling properly, you’re all set. We want you to be comfortable in your car, so we train our technicians to perform 2011 BMW 1 Series M A/C recharges.
You may think warm air is the only potential BMW 1 Series M A/C problem you’ll have, but you may notice other issues, too. Other common A/C problems include weak airflow, which could be caused by mold or mildew buildup, a loose hose, an old ventilation fan, or a compromised seal. If you notice that your A/C system’s air is cold at first, then quickly goes warm, this may suggest a leak, a blown fuse, or a damaged compressor clutch. Are you breathing in some “interesting” new odors in your 2011 BMW 1 Series M? This can mean you have mold in your evaporator case, or it may indicate that it’s time to change your cabin air filter. Our trained technicians will do what they can to solve your A/C problems. We’re here to help you get back on the road in your 1 Series M — without all the sweat puddles!
