There’s nothing worse than cranking your car air conditioner on a hot day — and discovering it’s broken. Your steering wheel feels like it's burning your hands. Your skin sticks to the driver’s seat. “Who can fix my BMW M550i xDrive A/C?” you wonder, as the sun beats through the windshield. Easy — Firestone Complete Auto Care! We know our way around BMW vehicles, and our trained technicians can identify and repair issues with 2018 BMW A/C systems. Come to your local Firestone Complete Auto Care in your BMW M550i xDrive
During this initial A/C performance check, we’ll look at the state of your 2018 BMW M550i xDrive’s A/C system to determine whether repair work is needed. We’ll test overall system performance, check for any leaks, and measure the system pressure. If any signs point to a possible leak, we’ll send a special U/V dye through the system, or use something called a “sniffer.” A “sniffer” isn’t a technician with a good nose! It’s a machine that’s used on different parts of your BMW M550i xDrive A/C system to detect refrigerant fumes escaping from the system. If there's a leak, we'll find it and fix it.
When we perform an A/C repair on your 2018 BMW M550i xDrive, we’ll also do an A/C evacuation and recharge. To do this, one of our technicians will remove the refrigerant in your A/C system (if there is even any left to remove). Next, they will evacuate the system according to BMW's recommendations. Finally, we’ll recharge the A/C system with new refrigerant and once the technician tests the cool blast for themselves, you’re all set. We want you to be comfortable in your car, so we train our technicians to perform 2018 BMW M550i xDrive A/C recharges.
You may think warm air is the only potential BMW M550i xDrive A/C problem you’ll have, but you may notice other issues, too. Other common A/C problems include weak airflow, which could mean you have a compromised seal, mildew or mold buildup, a loose or damaged hose, or a ventilation fan that needs to be replaced. If your A/C system blows cold air first but then it turns warm, this may be due to a clogged expansion valve, faulty compressor clutch, blown fuse, or leak. And smelly A/C in a 2018 BMW M550i xDrive? You could have a moldy evaporator case, or you may simply need a new cabin air filter installed. Our trained technicians will do what they can to solve your A/C problems. We’re here to help you get back on the road in your M550i xDrive — without all the sweat puddles!
